The belief is that one of the Buddha's hairs has been buried in the Stupa. Either way, this entire valley is one giant vortex of sacred space and this is a particular holy place with thousands of people daily doing Kora here. Kora is walking around the Stupa saying mantras. It is traditional to do Kora at least 3 times in the morning and at least 3 times in the evening.
